Tess Gerritsen "The Sinner"
2 December 2009
Author: Tess Gerritsen
Genre: Medical thriller
First published: 2003 Medical
theme: The lives of young doctors entering adulthood: a pediatrician, a psychiatrist, a surgeon, an obstetrician-gynecologist, and an internist.
Description:
At Graystones Abbey, two nuns fall victim to an exceptionally brutal attack—one dies, the other is hospitalized in a coma. An autopsy reveals that the murdered nun was pregnant. In the abandoned building of a former restaurant, police find the horribly mutilated body of a woman. A massacre takes place in an Indian village—all the residents are murdered. What connects these crimes, committed in places far apart? Detective Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles try to figure it out. The key to this grim mystery lies in events from years ago in an Indian leper colony
Although the author is a doctor, it’s clear that she has unfortunately abandoned her profession in favor of full-time writing. I missed having more medical tidbits in her book, the kind she presented in her other novels.
