Tiziano Terzani "Nothing Happens by Chance"

31 July 2010
Author: Tiziano Terzani Title: Nothing Happens by Chance Medical topic: conventional and alternative medicine, the fight against cancer Description: Although the book does not delve into medical issues in scientific detail, it will undoubtedly be of interest to most medical professionals. Faced with illness, the author and "protagonist" of the book must choose a therapy that might help him. Tiziano Terzani is a journalist and columnist who, over the course of his life, has traveled to many corners of the world, encountered many cultures, and observed the behaviors and ways of life of many societies. Faced with his illness, he must choose between conventional therapy and that offered by Eastern cultures. Will he remain true to his principles, or will the spirit of the 21st-century man prevail? The book is filled with numerous, highly insightful parables and highlights the differing approaches to the patient as a human being—as seen in the medicine offered by doctors in New York, for example, versus that of India, Tibet, and other cultures. Time and again, the book draws our attention to the need for a holistic approach to the human being—this really resonates with me. I highly recommend it!
