The film depicts the struggles of a young Black boy, Charon, raised by a single mother addicted to drugs. Shy and withdrawn, the boy is bullied by his peers. His only refuge from the reality surrounding him turns out to be the home of a wealthy drug dealer—Juan—and his partner—Teresa, who gladly welcome Charon into their home.
This film is a story of self-discovery, growing up and the challenges that come with it, and the search for love and acceptance. As we watch, we follow the boy’s life from childhood through adulthood and see how specific events shaped the protagonist’s psyche and his relationships with those closest to him.
