Robin Cook "Shock"

27 August 2010
Author: Robin Cook Title: Shock Genre: Medical thriller Description: Joanna Meissner and Deborah Cochrane, close friends and doctoral students at Harvard University, find an intriguing ad in the school newspaper. The Wingate Fertility Clinic offers astronomical fees to healthy, attractive female students who agree to donate their eggs. The girls decide to do so, but after the procedure, they quickly leave the clinic, which evokes unpleasant associations with a concentration camp and Count Dracula’s castle. A year and a half later, after returning from a long stay in Venice, Joanna and Deborah decide to find out what became of the egg cells they donated. Using fake names, they get jobs at the clinic. They don’t yet know that the truth about the institution’s activities will turn out to be terrifying, and that many shocks await them... I highly recommend it :-)
