Description:
Lwa-Starowicz’s book, in which he answers questions from Barbara Kasprzycka, is a very pleasant and light-hearted—and more importantly, interesting and informative—conversation that highlights cultural shifts, explains the psychological underpinnings, and clarifies certain mechanisms. It helps us better understand women, but also men. The world is changing; women are keeping pace with this process, while men are becoming increasingly helpless, which they then react to in various ways. Starowicz—not only a sexologist, but also an outstanding psychotherapist—says without a shred of pity that men are not aroused by our intellect or professional status, but by beauty and sex appeal. It is a woman who can fall in love with a man who reads Dostoevsky or is the president of a bank, even if he has a poor appearance. It may seem like nothing new, but Starowicz explains just how much women’s liberation and their rising social status have affected the stability of relationships. In "About Women," we find a wealth of information that each of us can surely relate to our own lives—much of which we already know—along with a few surprising anecdotes and insights. What surprised me most was the list of the most unusual sexual behaviors in women, which I’ll quote at the end: “In sex, anything is possible. You know, I knew a woman who had an orgasm when the wind blew on her. I had a patient who climaxed while hugging a tree.”
