Unbreakable (Unbreakable).

4 September 2011
Production and year: USA, 2000 Genre: thriller Screenplay: M. Night Shyamalan Director: M. Night Shyamalan Music: James Newton Howard Cast: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright Penn Medical topic: Type I osteogenesis imperfecta Description: David Dunn (Bruce Willis) miraculously survives a train crash that kills 131 people. At the hospital, it turns out he is the only survivor; what’s more, he doesn’t have a single scratch. He is contacted by Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), the owner of a comic book art gallery, who believes that David is a superhero, just like the heroes of American comic books. Elijah himself is disabled, suffering from Type I osteogenesis imperfecta, which has prevented him from leading a normal life since birth. However, he has believed since childhood that there must be someone in the world who is his opposite and possesses superhuman strength. He approaches David, hoping to convince him that he is right, which he ultimately succeeds in doing—but because of this, the son of the supposed superhero gets into trouble. David learns to use his extraordinary abilities to do good, but soon discovers that his most ruthless adversary is closer than he expected. This film is an atypical entry in the genre of American superhero action movies. Admittedly, it is not high-brow cinema, though it does keep you on the edge of your seat at times, and the ending is surprising. One of the film’s strengths is its very atmospheric soundtrack.
