What could keep him there for long? His beloved car, which has been wrecked? Only until it’s repaired. And after that? A woman, of course. Plus the gratitude of the locals, the children he delivered—who were named after him—and things like that. A light, simple, and enjoyable film. For me, however, it was the issue it raises that inspired me. Is it better to choose a career at a large hospital where chaos reigns, where you don’t know where to turn, and patients are constantly complaining, or to choose a job in a small town, balance it with a very fulfilling family life, and earn the immense respect of the locals? Times are a bit different now than they were in 1991; there aren’t general practitioners in small towns anymore, but the problem remains.
