Description: Shocking and moving—these are the words that come to mind when describing this film. There has been a lot of media attention recently regarding Magda Prokopowicz. Her illness and her example of resilience gave hope and strength to thousands of patients battling cancer.
For Magdalena Prokopowicz, the diagnosis of breast cancer was a death sentence. Both of her parents died of cancer, and she never came to terms with it. And it was precisely the experiences related to her mother’s failed treatment that led her to refuse surgery and resort to alternative medicine for a long time. It wasn’t until the cancer spread to her other breast that she was persuaded to begin treatment.
And then came the turning point—to her and her husband’s great surprise, she discovered she was pregnant. That day marked the beginning of everything for her: she changed her mindset, took up the fight against the disease, the fight for her son, and founded the “Rak’n’roll” foundation to help other women with cancer.
It’s worth watching the 2009 documentary, based largely on the Prokopowicz family archives, to get to know the charismatic Magda and understand what cancer really is. Although the film’s protagonist passed away in 2012, she did not lose her battle with the disease. She won so much for so many!
