Description: An extremely powerful film based on the true story of Aileen Wuornos, a prostitute who killed six men in 1989 and was sentenced to death. Aileen (Theron) was raped for the first time at the age of 8. As a 13-year-old girl, she became a prostitute. Her siblings distanced themselves from her, despite the fact that she had repeatedly supported them financially. Her life was marked by nothing but tragedies and brutal events that had an irreversible impact on her psyche. She never had anyone close to her until she met Selby (Richi), a young, lost lesbian. A bond formed between the two women. It was then that Aileen entered into a relationship for the first time with someone who didn’t hurt her. However,
she couldn’t give up her main source of income. Something inside her “snapped” nonetheless. A client who hit her, tied her up, and tried to abuse her died by her hand. The next one, who showed pedophilic tendencies, met the same fate. Others whose “preferences didn’t deviate from the norm” didn’t provoke anger in her. She did what she agreed to do with them and returned to her girlfriend. She loved her and felt loved. For the first time in her life. But all of that came to an end when she was caught by the police.
Another aspect of this film is Charlize Theron’s leading role. A beautiful actress who was transformed into a monster here. Even physically, adopting the appearance of the real Aileen Wuornos. The makeup is one thing, but her gestures, acting, and complete immersion in her role—that’s masterful. It blew me away. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences must have had similar impressions, as they awarded the actress an Oscar for this film.
